WHAT HAPPENED?
According to the , Newcastle would require a Premier League record offer "in excess of" £150m (€181m/$189m) in order to part with Isak. A similar valuation previously scared off Chelsea and the Magpies are reported to be "relaxed" about the situation, with "no interest in selling".

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Arsenal are the club most heavily linked with Isak, who has scored 32 Premier League goals since the start of 2023-24. The Gunners have lacked a prolific striker since Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang left, despite speding a substantial amount of Gabriel Jesus in 2022. But there could be rival interest from Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, Barcelona, and even Liverpool if Mohamed Salah is to leave Anfield.

WHAT ISAK SAID
During the November international break, Isak told reporters in Sweden: "I am commenting on my situation in Newcastle, and I have never had any problem there. I am fully focused on my task there and that we will have a fantastic season. There are still great opportunities for that. I have no thoughts about anything else."

WHAT NEXT?
Isak still has until 2028 on the six-year contract he signed upon joining Newcastle in the summer of 2022. But while he has no stated desire to leave the club, a new and improved deal is likely going to be necessary to keep the player in the long-term. Talks have previously been postponed and will have to begin at some point.
